Description |
This is a new discovery to a lot of anglers in and around the Leeds area. The old lake has been there some considerable time, and was private fishing for a long time. Four years ago the owner made it available for day ticket fishing. The second lake is designed as a match lake, but is exposed and can suffer from the wind on breezy days. The third pond on this complex has recently undergone a face-lift, the central island dug out and the water extended. Lots of the lilies have been removed and permanent platforms built. The water has got a good head now of silver fish, but contains a number of carp up to 5lb, and quite a few chub up to a pound. On a blank day when you want to prove that you could still hit a bite if you got one, this is the pond for you, a big worm will get a chub to bite, with maggot or caster producing smaller fish all day. The established lake is fairly shallow throughout it's ¾ of an acre. A central island can be fished up to from most of the 18 or so pegs. The carp in here go very big up to around the 30lb mark with fish averaging around the 6lb mark. There is very little else in here apart from the few resident roach. There are loads of features around this lake to fish to, but early morning and late evening see most of the fish getting caught. Again this is quite popular so getting on this water at a weekend requires a fairly early start. Over the last 2 years a new lake has been dug, specifically aimed at match fishing, very well constructed with paths and set pegs this will become very popular once the water gets bedded in a bit more. The match weights are coming home at around 25 - 30lb, but the pleasure angler could catch a fish a chuck all day if content with small roach, perch and carp. The largest carp so far is out at 14lb. This pond will only get better, and all of the 50 or so pegs will catch on the hardest day. (Again be mindful of when matches are fished, as the old pond will get busy). |
