Hill Top Reservoir


The name of this place gives it away, the water is large and is one the premier pike waters in the area, with mid twenty's caught each year. The 12-acre water has some very deep parts, and finding these is the key to locating the Pike. The water is one of a number owned by the Slaithwaite and District AC.

Tactics change with the weather, early spring the bream, which are thriving are taken on the open-end feeder with double maggot.

As the water warms they tend to come up and the pole accounts for some very good weights with chopped worm and maggot cocktails being successful. This approach will also take a large number of perch in the 2 to 6oz bracket, Quality Roach over the pound mark are taken the whole year through.

The carp are out numbered here, but can be taken using a method feeder and meat approach.

From Huddersfield TC take the A62 Manchester Road out of town and after about 51/2 miles (Careful of the speed cameras on your way home) you will come to Slaithwaite, the water is Longlands Road and overlooks the town.
