Loxley Fishery

Description

This fishery, which in the summer has got to be one of the most scenic places I have ever fished at is owned by a Mr Steve Aldam. A very friendly gent who is only too willing to pass on advice on baits and tactics.

Loxley is triangular in shape, about 120m each side and is fed by the river Loxley in one corner,(this is one of the few ponds where Barbel actually breed) each bank has a background of fully mature Alder trees with a few Birch and sycamore trees mixed in, this venue is very well kept, and a number of pegs are suitable for Disabled anglers, The rules are very visible on a well organised notice board. The water is about 4ft deep and has a number of Lily pads which when in flower photographers home in on every year, the river Loxley runs around this pond and there are a couple of small weirs /waterfalls that provide a background to the singing of the birds. There are Carp to about 20lbs, Barbel to about 5lbs, some decent size Tench, Bream, Roach, Crusian’s and lots of Chub up to about 4lbs. Steve recently added some new Carp.

If you fancy a fresh cuppa whilst on the bank, they do fresh tea, coffee and hot chocolate, brought to your peg, all day. If you get caught short of bait, come fishing at the last moment, or simply just run out, they also do freshly cooked hemp, ready to use, good quality pellets, Sweetcorn and Luncheon meat baits.
