There are 2 lakes at this location that offer both coarse and specimen fishing. Situated on the edge of a conservation area, the setting is truly spectacular. Coarse Lake / Tench Lake.This lake is a little under an acre in size, with a very good head of tench that run to 6lb. There are a number of larger bream that also run to 6lb. There is an island that does tend to fish well from either the pole or waggler with worm or maggot. A good days fishing should see you have about 25 to 30lb of fish. The water is quite shallow with the deeper places a little over 4 ft, but shallower areas are less than 9 inch. There are loads of features on this pond, whether it be nearside rushes or island trees. There are plenty of silver fish in here, but mainly small roach, perch and skimmers. Carp are present with the larger of the fish running to 8 lb. Carp LakeThe Carp Lake is well managed and regularly netted to remove the small fish. The carp in here can flourish and pile on the pounds with very little competition for food. The lake has a lot of natural food, so it is not a guaranteed fish a chuck in here. It is essential that planning goes into your fishing, with good bait presentation. There are carp in here that are fast approaching the 25lb mark with also a good stock of catfish up to 35lb. The water has a very deep green tinge to it, but with aerators added now there is a better oxygen level. This water can get very busy on a weekend, with the earliest visitors arriving often before 5 am. There is a trout lake on site additionally. |

Keepnets allowed on coarse lake, no groundbait or method feeders on carp lake and minimum line breaking strain must be 6lb.No poles or keepnets allowed on the carp lake. There are other rules which can be found on the below site. Barbless hooks only. |
Directions |
Leave the A1 at Boroughbridge and take the B6265 south towards York. Just after 3 miles take a right turn signed towards Grafton, and look for the signs for Prospect Farm and Grafton Mere. |
