Description |
This complex has grown and grown and grown over the past 6 years. Originally starting off many years ago as a single lake that is surrounded by woodland. This lake (the first you get to as you come down the road from the gate entrance on the RHS) is one of the most popular, due to the age, size and mixture of fish that it has stocked. In total there are now 13 lakes on the complex with the majority having easy adjacent car parking facilities (a lot of the lakes have easy access for disabled anglers). On these 13 lakes there are a total of 350 pegs from which to fish from the level hard standing. There is a well-stocked tackle shop (but don't expect it to open at 7.00 for bait), with a cafe serving the regular full breakfasts and assortment of lunches and teas. Without doubt, this complex is set up for match angling, and the matches can be very, very large often taking up 4 lakes, so you might not get your first choice when you arrive. The pegs are all very much the same, depth and features wise, so I would always recommend following the wind. Due to the number of matches fished here it is always wise to take a very large selection of baits, as you never know what the fish have been turned on to. This is one of the waters that have been allowed to stock barbel, and they have been put in at fingerlings a couple of years ago, there are now a lot of them over the pound mark, they scrap like crazy for their size. Together with the barbel there is also a full choice of other fish to have a go at. |

Directions |
From whichever direction you are coming from, make your way to the west end of the village of Carlton miniott (West of Thirsk on the A61). If you arrive from the east the fishery entrance is on your left as you leave the village. If you arrive from the west it's on the right just as you enter the village. A large sign at the entrance should make it hard to miss. |
