Windmill Pond is a mature clay pit of about three acres, situated on the South Bank of the River Humber, just West of New Holland.

About nine years ago the fishery suffered an outbreak of Prymnesium, caused by its high salt content, which resulted in a serious fish kill. However, following major restocking it has recovered to become one of Hull & District's in-form waters.

In recent years we have seen some excellent catches of rudd and perch. No fancy tactics needed here, just pole-fished maggots, bread or sweetcorn.

The large number of carp that were introduced have done well and now average well over 15Ib, with many fish in excess of 20Ib reported every year. In 2010, a new pond record was established with a carp of 28lb+.

It can be described as an easy carp water as several fish may be caught in a session without too much difficulty. They respond well to all baits and can be caught on luncheon meat and sweetcorn, as well as boilies.

The water may be of interest to eel anglers as it has turned up some handsome specimens to over 3.5Ib It is an attractive, reed-fringed water, improvement work over several years has seen paths cleared and improved, along with the construction of better swims and parking areas. It offers excellent sport for the pleasure angler in peaceful surroundings.
