This is a small water but being in a park and cheap to fish it does get a lot of hammer during the warmer months. It is also a boating lake and suffers from the dogs and sticks landing in you swim. There is a walkway around the circumference, which makes most of the pegs ideal for anglers with disabilities. The area does suffer somewhat from petty crime and damage, so take extra care of your tackle / valuables.

Regardless of this it does hold a good head of fish, especially the tench and the roach, which fall for the bigger baits such as corn and bread. There is also a good stock of perch that run up to 2lbs and these can be taken all day on a chopped worm.

If you want to guarantee a fish regardless of the weather then this is the place to go. As such it is good for the first timer. A stocking of carp would appeal to a wider audience.

I understand that there has been an explosion of Weed growth making many of the pegs unfishable, with possibly only ten left.

During the winter months a dedicated piker can take fish into the mid doubles, although there are only a few fish in this bracket in there, but quite a few jacks. Thers is also a smaller pond right at the bottom end of the race course by the motorway that is fished and is rumoured to hold some good tench.
