Description |
The Leeds and District Amalgamated Society of Anglers (known as Leeds DASA) has a special discount arrangement with this commercial style 4 lake pleasure and match fishery that opened in Summer 2008.
Lapwing is a 27 peg long oval match lake with typically 16 metres to the island with a canal style profile – the far shelf and near shelf sloping down to a central ‘track’ that is approximately 4-5 feet deep. The predominant species are common and mirror carp (to 10lbs and growing rapidly!), with ide, some tench, barbel and a few trout that will still feed in winter. Open matches are run on a wednesday and saturday with club matches on a sunday. the current record is 133lb by yorkshire fishing's own chris kendal aka hatman.
Rainbow is 2.5 acre and no longer a fly fishery, although visitors wishing to follow this discipline still can do so but bait anglers will be using the lake, this will be a pleasure lake only, which means visitors will hopefully be able to enjoy the site when matches are taking place which hasn't been the case to date.
The new lake 'Osprey' will hopefully have plenty of matches and if things go to plan the opens will be spread over both Lapwing and Osprey which gives the opportunity to hold 40/50 peggers
the site now has a total of 76 match pegs and a two acre 20 peg pleasure lake with future plans including cafe and toilet facilities |
