Description

The Fishery

5 acre plot just outside the quiet village of Norton with a 2.5 acre lake, spring fed with five naturally occurring springs, designed and built in 2007 with the modern match angler in mind for day ticket and session fishing. Has its own parking within easy reach of all the swims all of which are made of wood.

Stocked with a good head of Mirror, Common and Crucian Carp, Bream, Rudd, Roach, Chub and Barbel.

Lots of refuse bins are provided around the lake so you don’t have to take your rubbish home, please use them.

Please do not throw unused bait into the lake.

Roan Fishery Facilities.

Café

Provides excellent facilities, carries drinks, snacks, sweets and a café that serves excellent breakfasts as well as being stocked with a range of the latest baits and tackle from well known manufacturers.

Toilet and washing facilities are provided within the building.

Disabled Facilities

The café and several areas of the lake have been designed with the disabled angler in mind. The building has an access ramp and extra wide doors. Two of the swims are designed to facilitate the use of wheelchairs. (Please note: not all areas of the lake are wheelchair accessible).

Fishery Opening Times:

May to September: 7.00am to 8.00pm (Gate locked at 8.00pm)

October to May: Dawn until Dusk or 8.00pm

Café/Tackle Shop Opening Times:

Weekends and Match Days 7.00am to 4.00pm

Weekdays 8.00am to 4.00pm

Fishery is closed from 1st Dec to 1st March, except for Weekends.

Rules

We have a small number of rules that enable us to maintain our high quality of fishing.

General Rules
Barbless hooks only - maximum hook size 12
No keep nets except during matches Maximum 50lb per net (please ensure you have sufficient nets as our match record is 1st 188lb 8oz 2nd 151lb 6oz and 3rd 141lb 8oz) Not always the case but could need up to 4 keep nets. We can always help out with spare nets if the need arises.) All nets must be dipped in the solution provided.
No Method Feeders.
No braided line.
Fishing only allowed off swims provided.
Rods and equipment must not be left unattended.
No radios to be played when fishing.
No Dogs allowed around the fishery at any time.
No children under 14 to be left unsupervised.
Only fishery nets to be used.
No Swimming.
No stoves or cooking at the fishery.
No wading.
Litter Must be placed in the bins provided.

Bait Rules
No Floating Baits (inc Bread and Pellets)
No Trout Pellets, Boilies, Peanuts, Tigernuts, Bloodworm and Joker.
Only Coarse pellets purchased from Roan Fishery may be used as a feed bait.
Other particle feed baits, hemp, sweetcorn, etc. restricted to 1 large can per angler.
No unused bait to be thrown into the lake at the end of a session.

WE CHECK ANGLERS HOOKS AND BAITS ON A REGULAR BASIS AND ANYONE FOUND BREAKING ANY OF OUR RULES INCLUDING LITTERING WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE THE LAKE IMMEDIATELY.

Directions

From A1(motorway) Northbound.

Take junction signposted Pontefract, take first turning right going over the A1 then your first left signposted Campsall, after about 500m turn left sign posted Norton, after about 2km turn right at the junction signposted Norton. Go all the way through Norton Village, cross over the railway line and the fishery is about 200m on the left.

From Doncaster City Centre take the A19 Selby Road, once you go through Askern carry on for approx 1km, turn left to Norton, the Fishery is about 300m down on your right.
