Description

 This is a very well kept fishery that has 2 lakes in total with about 5 acres in total. Car parking is good and within easy access of both waters. There is camping available on site together with disabled pegs and also a snack bar (check opening times). Both lakes are heavily stocked and offer some good fishing throughout the year, mainly due to the stocking policy.

The first lake sits in front of the owner's house and offers good cover against the elements with mature trees around the outskirts. It has many attractive features to fish to including lilies and weed beds. Fish include: perch, rudd, tench, bream, barbel, roach, chub, golden orfe, crucian carp, mirror, common, ghost and grass carp, and catfish. There are also quite a few koi that must now be approaching 10lbs, if you've never caught a koi, and then give it a go, because they really do fight well.

The second lake has been designed with the match angler in mind. It has a central island that faces all the pegs, and is reached only by the longest of poles. The water shallows up quite a lot up to the island and is a good place to pick up fish when the weather is warmer. Again the same mix of fish, but not really the character of the first lake.

Constant loose feeding is the key to catching here, take plenty with you as the fish will move on if not being fed. For hook baits a good variety is the key, and change every fish to stop them becoming wary. Worms, corn and meat will take the carp. The catfish will take livebaits, but also have been know to take anything that takes their fancy. Maggot and caster will take plenty of silver fish, with caster being popular for the golden orfe.

Rules
  • All cars must be parked in the Car Parks, and NOT on the road side (all cars are left at owner’s risk).
  • Opening times – 7am until 1 hour before dusk.
  • No night fishing – No Keep Nets. No dogs allowed.
  • Please keep to the paths and permanent pegs provided.
  • No access or fishing in the garden area.
  • No nuts, boilies, dead or live baiting.  Ground bait in pole cups & feeder only.
  • No artificial plastic or imitation baits.
  • In-line, free running method feeders only. Stopped with a bead to the swivel or hook length.
  • Landing nets must be used on all fish above 4oz. All fish must be returned to the water.  Unhooking mats to be used for large fish – 3lbs and over.
  • No baited rods/poles to be left unattended in the water at any time.
  • No litter or discarded fishing line to be left on the peg or fishery. Please use the bins provided or take home.
  • Max hook size 12. Barbless hooks only, no braid hook lengths or method feeder hooks, method feeder floats, splashers or self hooking floats.  Disgorgers to be used at all times.
  • No bad language to be shouted around the lakes.
  • Juniors must be accompanied by an adult.
  • FLOATING baits CAN be used when pleasure fishing.

Directions

Leaving York on the A59 head towards Green Hammerton. It is about 5 miles outside York on this road and very well signed on the RHS of the road just before Skip Bridge.
