Ingelby Pond - Great Broughton |
Description |
This place is a real treat for those who appreciate natural peaceful surroundings. The water is well kept and provides anglers with 28 pegs to choose from. There is one water that is rather strangely shaped and features a small island and also a couple of dead trees adorning the middle of the shallow water. There are no facilities to speak of, and due to the natural nature it is not suitable to anglers with disabilities.
The bays nearest the road tend to be the deepest with 4 ft in a couple of places. The end furthest away offers a little over 3 ft. It is beck fed from a small stream that runs alongside the water. A sudden influx of cold water can really turn the sport off here after cold rain enters the system. The biggest fish in the water are carp that run to short of 20lb, but are not that plenty in numbers. There are quite a good head of crucian carp, with better fish running to a pound. Early morning and late evening are the best times to target the tench that run to a little short of 5lb. Corn and worm fished in the margins work very well for these fish. There are a number of golden orfe that go to 8lb, they look stunning but fight like an Asda carrier bag. There are rudd that go to 2lb and tend to shoal up in the shallower water and respond well to caster. Roach to a pound, but most fish average 3oz. There are bream, with reported fish to over 10lb. Finally there are a number of ide also present.the pegs are well spaced and clean due to bins been providedthe bailiff nice chap only to willing to help you he has fished for over 50 odd yrs |
