Water Name |
Fairview Lake - Cawood Common |
|
Description |
This water has its origins as far back as the late 1800's, and the clay pit has some lovely looking stock fish that are regularly taken from the 2 acre water. The water is quite deep with some places approaching 20 ft, as such it does offer sport the whole year through. The warmer weather sees the majority of those fishing targeting the carp that have been caught up to the lake record of just short of 23lb. With a dip in the weather the water is targeted by pike anglers who employ the full range of tactics to take fish up to the 28lb mark. The carp and pike are not the only quality fish that you will find here, eels have been caught to over 7lb, tench landed at over 8lb and quality perch to 4lb like to grace the banks once in every while. With the water being clay lined, the water colours the resident crucians a lovely buttery colour with fish in the 3lb plus bracket caught each year. A lot of the fishing here does tend to be on the bottom with lead weights. A little and often feeding pattern appears to work best, and apart from boilies the natural baits account for the majority of the fish. |
