Water Name

Chapmans Pond

Description

Located in the shadow of the much larger and better known Lakeside Lodges, this fishery is well known to locals. OK, its not a day ticket water as such, as the fishing is at a Yorkshireman's favourite price, FREE!

Owned by York City Council, this 1 acre brick pond can offer some good fishing along with car parking. The pond and surrounding area is designated as a nature reserve. Being free and on the edge of a large estate it does attract a lot of kids during holidays and sunny weekends, so best avoided at these times.

This is one of those extremely frustrating, you should have been here yesterday, places. Containing roach, perch, bream and tench in the main. No carp. With depths up to 12 and averaging 7-8 it makes for a nice traditional fishery on its day.

For consistency maggot or caster on the drop, will get you reasonable bags of roach and/or perch. Fishing corn, bread or luncheon meat over hemp on the bottom will pick up skimmers and if they are playing, tench up to 5lb.
