Description |
This is a 3-lake venue set on the outskirts of York and is lovely place to fish in peaceful surroundings. The water is very well kept, although there are no facilities on site other than cabin toilets. All pegs on the 3 lakes (70 in total) are equipped with fishing platforms for ease, but not all are suitable for disabled anglers. Both waters have a boatload of features that you can fish to and should be targeted if looking for a big weight. All the fish are supplied by the waters own fish farm. There is ample parking on site. The largest water is the match lake, which is teeming with features on most pegs. The water holds mainly carp averaging between 1 and 5lb, but there are those that run into double figures. You will also find bream, tench, chub and a few catfish up to 20lbs in weight. The water is surrounded by trees, and with the addition of islands fishable from most pegs, it is not hard to decide which part of the peg to target. The water is heavily fished and a change of bait is always a worthwhile option to try if the bites dry up. Fish up against the island and bulk all the shot up around the float for best results during the warmer months. To keep the shoals in your swim, you will need plenty of loosefeed to keep them interested. So, after matches the fishing can quite slow as lots of bait will have been piled in. The best baits tend to be caster or chopped worms, with the larger chunks such as meat working better when the water temperature takes a dip. Although not many anglers favourite method, the floating pole accounts for big bags of fish. The second lake is known as the front pool and is about 1 acre in size and it has a couple of islands that can be fished to. The water is well stocked, again with carp from the half pound mark up to about the 3lb, with the odd fish over 10lbs present. It is generally a better water in the winter months as you can fish lighter than on the match pool. The Cyprio Pool is the newest lake on the water. It has 21 pegs and features depths to 6 ft. It again has small islands that make obvious fish holding features. The water holds some very big carp (20lb), but the majority of the fish run to about 5lbs. It is very heavily stocked. I would take maggot, meat, catmeat, pellet, corn and paste to this water, a strong pole is required when the bigger fish are on the move. Very heavy feeding has produced some very good match weights. |
