Langholme Hill Fisheries, Emmotland. These waters are set in wonderful surroundings within East Yorkshire, close to the River Humber. There are 4 lakes in total and all provide easy access for those anglers with disabilities. There are also toilet facilities on site. The site is also sheltered which makes fishing in poor weather a little more pleasant than most. The first lake that you see as you drive down the access road past the owners house is named "Lake One." It is the deepest lake on the complex, with the middle of the lake having the best part of 15 foot to go at. This water is a little over an acre and a half and offers plenty of features to tempt the specimens into the margins of the lake. The next lake down is named "Lake Two" and is much larger at 4 acres. It also has some good depths at 8 foot, nearest lake one and also towards the centre of the lake. Most of the water has at least 4 foot to fish in. Both these lakes are designed primarily as specimen waters although they both do have good stocks of silver fish present. The main targets are the carp that run to 35lb, but the stock of cats to 15lb also make timely appearances. "Lake Three" is a little over an acre and half and again has 8 foot in the deepest places, but most areas averaging between 4 and 6 foot. The water does have a very good stock of carp to 20lb, but the majority are just over the 5lb mark. There are some very big bream and tench in here at 10lb and 9lb respectively. The perch go to 3lb 3oz, and there are good stocks of roach and rudd also, that average between 4oz and 8oz. In a break with tradition the last lake on the complex is known as the "new lake," probably due to the fact that it is the newest lake to be dug. It is approximately two acres in size and is shallower at 3 to 4 foot in most areas, but does have areas approaching 6 foot at the furthest end of the water. This is an all out bagging water, and is stuffed full of pastie carp that average around 3 to 4lb. Very large tench have also been added and reputedly go to over 10lb. The water also has plenty of silver fish, perch, ide, roach and rudd making up the stock. The fish are turned onto boilies and specimen tactics on lakes 1 and two. Small deadbaits and fresh meat will account for the wels catfish. On the general coarse lakes the fish will respond well to most baits. The pellet works especially well on the new lake. With larger particle baits targeting the bigger fish. Don't neglect the margins, which drop fairly quickly, and these areas first and last thing. The bream will hold in the swim if you put a bed of brown crumb out via the feeder. Day tickets on lakes one and two are £15.00 for 24 hours, which must be pre-booked. The other 2 lakes are £5.00 per day, with dawn until dusk fishing on these lakes available on the bank. Keepnets can be used on the lakes 1 and 2 with the permission of the owner, Open the year through - barbless hooks only. Directions - Leave Bridlington on the A165 heading towards Beeford. At Beeford turn right on the B1249 through North Fordingham and when you see the church take a left turn opposite and a mile down this road you will find the fishery.
