Lambwath Lakes, Aldbrough.

Lambwath Lakes, Aldbrough.

This is a fairly new 5 lake complex that has been in existence for a little over 3 years. Some of the pegs are suitable for disabled anglers, but the Moat pond is best suited for anglers with disabilities (ask the bailiff if you can take the car round - if dry he usually agrees). There are toilet facilities available on site. With the water being close to the coast and being fairly sparse in terms of bank-side cover it does suffer with the wind. Parking is conveniently situated in the middle of the lakes, but to walk to the furthest points of the waters can be a bit of a trek with a boatload of tackle.

The biggest Lake is the same name as the fishery and is the one that holds not only the largest number of carp, but also the biggest with a number in the 15 - 20 lb bracket.

Of the other 2 ponds there is only the Moat Pond and the Caravan Lake that offer any substantial features to fish to. The Moat pond is circular in shape and offers the best chance of ton up weights if you can reach the island with the pole and fish up tight in the summer months. The Caravan lake offers another island that is reachable and corn and meat tend to account for the best fish.

All the waters have a similar stocking policy with carp (most varieties), roach, perch, bream, rudd, ide and some good tench.

During the summer months the big baits will see some good carp on the bank (meat / bread) while the maggot / chopped worm on the feeder will take the silver fish.

Day Tickets £5.50. Under 16's £3.00 in summer with £3 during winter months. No keepnets, boilies, flavourings or colouring, natural coloured maggots only, Landing nets to be dipped prior to fishing.

Directions - You need to be on the B1242 which runs from Hornsea and Withernsea, as you go into the village of Aldbrough take the first left and follow this road past the church there, and you will see a caravan park, just before that follow the signs to the fishery (Right turn) and follow the track until you reach the lakes.

slack areas are found mainly on bends in the river, and the term slack refers to the part of the river where the current is not as strong.
