November 2009

Well  what a month we are having weather wise but it does produce some stunning pictures

nov_weather.gif

Just some of the work by our forum members and you have to agree these as well as the others are outstanding pictures, just tells you to get out and capture your own

the river men on the forum wanted water, well i think you have asked too much, many of our rivers are on flooding alert , but I’m sure they will settle down and the Barbel and winter pike will be there for the anglers, we see more and more switching to pike angling over the winter period, if you are unsure on what you are doing and would like to learn how to fish for them correctly and handle them, the Selby Pac (pike angling club) are having another teaching day, Sunday 8th Nov at Gowdall, just join our forum and put your name down or let the lads who are organising the event know you wish to join, if you would just like to watch then get yourself down there and see the anglers in action.

Throughout the year many events like these take place via our forum, be it friendly matches, overnight carping events and now the winter piking teaching days, one thing we all try and do is help to teach the better way to handle and catch fish, we as anglers need to protect our sport no matter what you fish for, so younger anglers can safely catch and release fish for many years coming

Autumn Carping Overnighter

A full report will this month be uploaded to the carping section of our site, i’m just waiting for a few final details to finish the report, what i can do in the meantime is congratulate Chris for sneaking out this stunning fish from a side of the lake that saw no others caught,

Latest032.jpg

what with the weather changing from warm to cold on the weeks running up to the event i’m sure the fish do not know wheather they are coming or going, which in turn can upset their eating habits, i mean on the other side of the island one Cookiemonster ripped the place apart with something like 17 fish while Maf next to him only caught 2, and he used the same bait and tactics for a while, it does show that the placement of your baits is one of the key factors of catching well.

YF Matches

As reported last month the summer matches have all finished now, but there does seem to be alot of talk of a few winter matches, so if these do go ahead then join the forum and get your name down, i mean Boff only joined last year and he won the summer league this year so that alone shows everyone is welcome, no matter how good  or bad you are someone is always willing to help you out

Site Venue Details.

We are in the process of updating all the information we have on all the venues in and around the 4 counties, if you are going to visit one we have listed then please contact the owners first to check everything will be ok for you to visit, if you find things have changed alot then please could you let me know as well so i can update things as soon as , you can contact me by email Ajk@yorkshirefishing.net

2010 Charity Event

I did let you know last month that we had some things in the pipeline for next’s year’s event, but as details are still in the planning stage I cannot release much as yet, one point I can make is we are 99% sure the event will be taking place in South Yorkshire at a well know venue that will cater for all our needs and that of the kids. Hopefully in the new year all the details can be released

slack areas are found mainly on bends in the river, and the term slack refers to the part of the river where the current is not as strong.
